What is the Saugerties Earth Day Week Collaborative?
Saugerties Residents Committed to Raising Awareness and Promoting Action to Counteract the Threats of Climate Change
Last year we began by running events and producing educational materials for the community. This year we continue in that vein but given the challenges of budget cuts to key programs and climate change denial rhetoric we plan to communicate more direct recommendations to our neighbors.
Mission
To celebrate our home - Planet Earth - and provide knowledge and understanding of how the interconnected systems that support life on earth work. With this information we can acknowledge the consequences of undermining the earth's systems equilibrium. We aim to Identify how these challenges directly impact the environmental in our Town and provide authoritative reference material to allow residents to become fully informed and take educated action.
Vision
Engage the community through activities, such as nature, garden and farm tours, entertaining presentations by subject matter experts, exhibitions, poetry, music and art events. to increase awareness and passion to protect our home.
